HONGKONG. 23rd July, 1926.
With reference to my telegram dated 20th July, 192
concerning the damage to the Colony caused by the rainstorm of
7
19th July, I have the honour to forward for your information copies of a report by the Director of Public Works.
2. The damage to Government works is estimated
provisionally at $1,000,000 on Hong Kong Island and $100,000
& New Kowloon
in Kowloon No damage of a serious nature was caused to the
Kowloon-Canton Kailway.
3. The work of repair is progressing, but has been
seriously hindered by strong winds and heavy rain due to another
typhoon which passed to the south of the Colony on the 22nd of
July.
4. I enclose copies of the Overland China #ail which
gives a detail description of the storm and its effects.
